Fall Term is Officially Over!

Technically, half of the "play" is complete already. Two weeks ago, the theatrical version of [cod] ]catfish[ had its first public reading, and it's an interesting process to create a project with two very different perspectives for feedback: not just my playwriting cohort, but also my creative coding classmates as well. Sometimes it's a bit of a challenge to communicate to both sides about what the project entails. I'm hoping the payoff will be worth it when the workshop production launches in June.

Old Projects, New Projects

I feel this immense tension between my desire to implement the project and the need to focus on my learning at grad school. I'm trying to build my entire curriculum in my first year around exploring the unexplored world of digital media artmaking, and most of my professors have been telling the class about the importance of taking things slow and not putting pressure on yourself to have a ton of output as a student. But...I can't help it when I have an idea that's burning in my mind.

My interest in AI-generated art is not mere curiosity. At the start of a lot of public conversations surrounding AI art, I was actually pro-AI art and I was even frustrated by most artists’ knee-jerk aversion to the concept. Nowadays, my stance is much more neutral, and I’m in a headspace where I’m seeing an equal amount of pros and cons. Currently, I find myself hungry to understand what type of art I’m trying to create with these technologies.
